Lessons Learned
"The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice." -Brian Herbert
Of the many trials we faced along the way, the biggest hurdle we had to overcome (and still yet to surpass) is getting the name Micro Explorers out to a larger audience. Around the time of our launch, the market became extremely saturated with tons of PFP projects, many of which commanded much more attention than a Pixel PFP with a simple game.
TLDR:
We did not have the knowledge or foresight to market the project more heavily before launching in the extremely saturated December market of 2021, and our methods for marketing post-launch produced mixed results but drained a large portion of our budget, creating a tighter margin for our game prize pool. This required us to really try and push for the 1000-mint goal to launch our game without having to worry about sustaining mint revenue until the game and system had been fully established.
Small sidenote
We both poured almost the entirety of our crypto holdings into the building, publishing, and maintaining of this project, and we have never pulled any of the community wallet funds out to pay ourselves back in any way for anything. All community funds up until this point have been used for community growth including giveaway prizes, event prizes, marketing, etc. We never expect to get paid back for our work, regardless of its success.
