Development Timeline

The exact dates are TBD, but we will attempt to meet these deadlines and update accordingly.

After lots of consideration, we have pivoted away from our original golden chest idea due to prize revenue constraints and are moving now towards a business-centric approach.

A Backlog page will be created to show our progress as we begin working on these deliverables.

The bulk of our efforts will now be poured into developing a new game that will be released to the mass public, not just the Web3 Space. With this game, we hope to attract other groups to our Micro Explorer world and thus help the project grow in many aspects. This new game would be free to access for our holders, but would ideally generate revenue from outside audiences that would want to play it. The idea would be that as holders, you not only get free access to the game but also your explorer brought to life within that game.

At some point in development, we could create a timeline for closing the mint, and any and all current holders would be allowed to stake their Micro Explorers in a new contract, and by staking, earn a portion of the revenue raised from the game on a time to time basis. We cannot guarantee that you would earn any ETH, but we can tell you that we will be working to make the best version of the game we can for you to enjoy and share with others!

More details to come on this as we nail down specifics!

[February 2023]:

We begin outlining the development of our new game under the Micro Explorers studio that will most likely be built out in the Unity Engine. We currently have two ideas that we would like to build which will be voted on within the Discord.

[Idea 1: Explorer Fight Club]: In the fight club, you will be able to challenge other explorers to a fight, moving along the ranks with each win. The gameplay will not be skill-based, but a strategic battle where you will try and get in the mind of your opponent.

Fights would be implemented as simple 1v1s to start but can be expanded to larger group sizes.

Simply select a series of moves to carry out. When you and your opponent have both locked in your moves, they will be played out in front of you. The combination of your moves matched up with your opponents will affect the health, stamina, and power of your fighters. After a few rounds or premature knockout, a winner will be named.

This game would be the simpler option to make, which also means it would have a shorter time required to develop it. It could also bring some amusing moments as we add special items to the fights in the same way that rumble royale had that dramatic/intense feel.

[Idea 2: Explorer Party Game]: In this cooperative exploration game, you will have the option to journey alone or with friends. This game will feature a top-down viewpoint where your party will enter maps that need exploration. With the light provided by your flashlights, get in and get out to claim all the loot you can find while completing missions. Beware, there might be hostile enemies on some maps, as well as timed dangers that occur on others.

Initially, there would be a selection of a few maps and each map will have some danger mechanics specific to it, as well as goals and challenges that come along with it. Successful runs through a map will equip your character with more gear and supplies to help you succeed in harder expeditions.

General Concepts: There are some general concepts that would remain true, unrelated to which game option we proceed to start with.

  • The game will be published to one or more game stores, and marketplaces like Steam, for purchase. While we currently don't know that price point, we do know that Micro Explorer holders will receive a FREE key to access and own the game.

    • This gives our community a potential revenue source to gain value from, as well as introduces people from the general gaming community to the Micro Explorers universe.

  • The game will feature avatars based on the Micro Explorers (and companions) that we have come to love. The general player will have access to a few default explorers, but holders will be able to access their Micro Explorers and use them instead of the default options. Think of it as a custom skin for holders only.

    • This will hopefully create a drive for non-holders playing the game to consider joining the fun in our community moving forward.

  • Outside of the core outline of the game, all of the decisions pertaining to the direction of the game(s) will be made as a group (likely voted on in discord). We want to continue this journey as a community and that can only be done if your voices are heard in the key decision points of the development phase.
